“He has been awesome. I didn’t retrieve 1 bird this year. He is an animal.”
”...socialized VERY well. People comment all the time. My hunting buddies call him “Horse” because he is 80lbs and tall”
“Winchester “Pump Action” Morgan (Chester) is a pick-of-the-litter Silver Sage male Labrador born in June of 2018. He is a very large Labrador often referred to as “horse”, “ox”, “beast” or whatever people come up with because he is 84 pounds. Big in size, he is still very agile and energetic. Chester’s athletic build comes from his love of the outdoors, hunting, socializing with other dogs and people alike.
Chester socialized well with other dogs as a puppy and took pointers from other bird hunting dogs while in the field to round out the bird training he was given in the backyard. He instinctively retrieved and understood the purpose of the task very quickly. He is fantastic with ducks and geese and proficient in upland birds. His favorite birds are Canadian Geese and Mallards.
There are a few dogs that Chester hunts with. Ironically, non of them are Labradors. He hunts with a Griffon named Hank, a Brittany named Jack, and a Pitt Bull turned bird dog named Sunny. He has a very playful and calm demeanor which lends well to working with other dogs. When upland hunting, He often will take on the roll of retrieving while his hunting partners point. It’s a great system for pheasant and Chukar.
Around the house Chester is part of the family. He rarely barks and our recollection of hearing a bark from him can be counted on one hand! He is a very quick learner and uses his observation skills to read thoughts as he often knows he is about to go for a walk by indicating with a facial expression rather than a wine or bark (how polite). His size helps him open doors around the house because his nose is at hand level and we have door handles throughout, unfortunately.
He loves to be around people. He is a Party Animal! Kids are his favorite because they always give him the playful attention he desires. If he can perform his roll on the hunt by retrieving birds, acting as a hiking companion, or being a guest at a party, Chester is happy to be there and is always engaged.
Chester is a great traveler as he has been on MANY vacation excursions covering 8 states and 4 national parks. He is very at home in the cab of the truck or his kennel in the back and can comfortably travel for long periods of time. Boat rides are also common for Chester and catching fish really excites him.
From the first day we brought him home he has been a joy. I can’t remember life with out him as part of the family. Hunting has never been so fun!”
This darling girl was born June 29, 2017 and left us August 20, 2017. She was bound for a life full of hunting adventures!
Owners Brandon and Shanna could hardly wait to get their new puppy. Shasta was headed to a great active family, and also to a new older sibling, Sierra.
Waterfoul and Upland game hunter.
"We love Labradors of Silversage , the people are great and the process of puppy adoption is amazing from start to finish. We loved watching our Purple collared pup grow with her siblings on social media and website videos.
After 8 long weeks we were able to pick up our dog Shasta and start the training process for this intelligent pup. She is already a good waterfowl and upland game hunter , house dog and our best friend at 18 months old. Silversage has given us a high quality best friend and we recommend the Silversage Labrador experience! "
