In 2012 our little family wanted to get a dog. Our boys were so excited that we were going to get a dog from Grandma (Nancy Hyde)! We had talked with Nancy about trading a puppy for us coming and helping her with the dog chores. My husband and I got to help with the delivery of my little 'Pumpkin Pie' (that's what I named her) and her 8 other brothers and sisters. Our family got pretty attached to all of the dogs and seeing them every day, and Nancy enjoyed having all the extra help and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren so often. This was the beginning of our entrance into the Labradors of Silversage business. After 2 years of her mentoring, she felt confident in turning over her business our family.
This as been one of the best decisions my husband and I have ever made, investing in this company. We love these dogs, and we love seeing puppies grow and eventually go to their new families. Our children look forward every day to taking care of our dogs. They love seeing all the new puppies. I don't need to say that all our litters get a good amount of individual attention from my kiddos. My kids end up naming all of them eventually.
I love seeing my boys take charge in their responsibilities with the every day chores. Our daughter is helping out more now too. I hope this instills in them good qualities that will help them out further in their lives. Learning responsibility, respect, and compassion towards animals and their babies can apply to so many other aspects of life.
The following is a story, in Nancy Hyde's own words, about how she and her husband began this amazing family business...

In 1999, a friend of ours in California suffered a heart attack, and needed to sell his 2 black Labrador Retrievers (a Stud -Longs Top Gun Magic Luke and a Bitch - Long's Top Gun A Girl). We purchased them, and this began our love affair with the greatest breed of dog in the world. Soon we decided to obtain another dog, a yellow Bitch- Ginger Gold II. After studying bloodlines of multiple champions, we sent off for two more stud Labradors back east from renowned breeders - RL Hyde's Buddy De Silversage, came to us as a 7 week old pup from Mary Howley of Candlewood Kennels in Madison, Wisconsin, and, Copper Cougar De Silversage. Another Bitch, Thunder Run's Tea at Borador, joined our family next - her blood lines strong with both show and field. We then were on our way to becoming breeders of many outstanding Labradors.
My sweetheart of 61 years, Robert Hyde, passed away Sept. 22, 2012. It was witnessed, right up until his last days; he was still interested in our Labs. Before his passing, we had just purchased a Fox red from John and Ellen Adams of Bear Lake Michigan. Our dream is to incorporate the Fox red color into our breeding program. Our Fox red stud “Buddy” is beautiful, and has all of the qualities we want in his future offspring.

We would like to show our appreciation to Sally Kelly of "Kelley Green's Labradors in Gardnerville, NV for her stud service of champions over the years when we were without our own studs. We bring our girls together with Kelley's males, and the combinations continue to produce the most gorgeous Labrador pups you've ever seen. Sally is one to admire and a dear, dear friend of Nancy Hyde's and ours.
